ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 18th Feb, 2019) Just a year after the launch of its original SwarmDiver product, US company Aquabotix is introducing the new SwarmDiver EDGE into its family of micro-sized underwater vehicles during the Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition, NAVDEX.
The first public demonstration of SwarmDivers EDGE, which are ultra-portable, single-person deployable micro-unmanned hybrid vehicles capable of operating in swarms on or below the water surface, will take place at NAVDEX 2019 at 18:00 on Wednesday, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADNEC.
The latest SwarmDiver EDGE has been designed to provide alert of threats from manned and unmanned vehicles, including militarized vehicles and hobby drones with explosive devices.
Utilising a swarm of the SwarnDiver vehicles equipped with high-intensity lights creates a visual boundary to act as a first-line deterrent along a shoreline, around a vessel or docking area, or near any other infrastructure of interest.
According to Aquabotix, this capability allows operators to control a swarm of many vehicles remotely, and from a safe distance, while ensuring security in the face of threats from militants or terrorist groups.
The exhibition, which boasts a record of over 100 companies participating from over 20 countries, of which four countries are taking part for the first time including, China, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and South Korea.
NAVDEX 2019 is sponsored by a group of national companies specialised in the defence industry, most notably the Emirates Defense Industries Company, EDIC, the strategic partner of the IDEX and NAVDEX 2019 exhibitions, in addition to the Abu Dhabi Ship Building Company, ADSB, the main partner of NAVDEX 2019.
Held on over 133,000 sqm. of internal and external area, the 2019 edition of NAVDEX and International Defence Exhibition & Conference, IDEX, are expected to be the largest in their history as IDEX is set to mark its silver jubilee. It is worth noting that the previous edition saw the participation of more than 1,235 participating companies from 57 countries and produced concluding deals valued at more than AED19.7 billion.
