ABU DHABI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News / WAM - 18th Nov, 2018) Through the Technology Committee, the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities, UPM, is making progress on the digital transformation project, including its launching of the Unified Digital Hub for Subsidised Foodstuff. The initiative has brought the department a step closer to realising its ultimate objective of providing secure access to 100 percent digitised services by the end of 2018.
Regarding the digital transformation, Saif Al Rumaithi, Director of Communication and e-Services Centre at Abu Dhabi City Municipality, said, "The Department is keen to automate its entire services, remaining faithful to its mission of serving the community, streamlining procedures and providing ultra-modern services to cope with the needs of customers, community members and partners, and fulfil their aspirations."
"The digital transformation project", added Al-Rumaithi, "follows a systematic approach and has made impressive progress, in which the digital transactions jumped over 84 percent. The Digital Hub for Subsidized Food Services for citizens is part of a wide array of services that the Technology Committee has fully digitalised in record time."
Jabir Abdul Rahman bin Obaidan Al Hammadi, Head of Warehouses, Al Dhafra City Municipality, said, "The Digital Hub for Subsidised Food Services covers the three municipalities, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, Al Dhafra Municipality, and Al Ain City Municipality. Emiratis can now obtain subsidised food items through the Smart Hub, in a hassle-free manner.
"Foodstuff transactions account for more than 32 percent of the total transactions processed by the municipalities. The process will minimise the huge pressure on the Head Office and significantly cut the paper-based transactions," noted Al Hammadi.
"The services offered by the Digital Hub for Subsidized Foodstuffs are not just confined to food products and online payments, but also include home delivery of food commodities within Abu Dhabi Island, for a fee of just AED42," said Al Hammadi.
Highlighting the features of the Digital Hub for Subsidised Foodstuffs, Mohammed Khamis Al Kaabi, Director of Technical Planning at Al Ain City Municipality, said, "The Digital Hub is user-friendly, as it offers fully online services without requiring any identity documents, thanks to the Department’s full smart-link with the Systems and Smart Services Authority. The Hub can access and retrieve all information about households that are eligible for subsidised food commodities. The Digital Hub services are available around-the-clock, and citizens are not required to fill out any application forms or make an invoice, as all transactions will be electronic and digitally linked to the systems and distribution centres."
"The Digital Hub will serve more than 70,000 Emirati families entitled to subsidised food commodities. Through this Hub, the Department’s Technology Committee intends to raise the satisfaction of citizens with municipal services, bring them happiness, and simplify procedures," added Al Kaabi.
