25 Candidates Flexing Muscle For Senate Election In KP

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jul, 2025) A total of 25 candidates backed by the government and opposition members are contesting the Senate elections from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), on the general seats, the government has fielded four candidates, while three candidates nominated by the opposition parties.

For the reserved seats includes two for women and two for technocrats, both the government and the opposition have nominated two candidates each.

On general seats, PTI has nominated former Federal Minister Murad Saeed, PTI Central Spokesman Faisal Javed, Mirza Mohammad Afridi and ex Federal Minister Noorul Haq Qadri.

Robina Naz and ex Federal Minister Azam Swati are also in the running under the PTI banner for women and technocrat seats.

Opposition candidates include Niaz Ahmad from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Talha Mahmood from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Atta-ul-Haq from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) on the general seats.

On the reserved seats, PPP has nominated Rubina Khalid, while JUI-F’s Dilawar Khan is also contesting.

The voting process continued in KP Assembly’s Jirga Hall under tight security arrangements of ECP. The polling will continue till 4p.m and later votes counting will start.
