ANF recovers 2.55 ton drugs, apprehends 17 in countrywide operations

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th july, 2016) : Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 2.55 ton narcotics and arrested 17 persons involved in drug trafficking in its countrywide campaign against the menace. The ANF also seized four vehicles in 17 operations and apprehended 32 in special drive against absconders in narcotics cases.

The worth of recovered narcotics was worth Rs 1.6 billion in international market. The recovered drugs comprised 11.9 kg Heroin, 2.539 ton Hashish, 4.8 kg Opium and 450 grams Cocaine. Operations were carried out at Islamabad, Attock, Murree, Lahore, Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujrat, Haripur, Peshawar, Kohat, Charsada, Hyderabad and Qilla Abdullah.

As per details here on Friday, ANF Quetta while carrying out three separate intelligence led operations at a desolate site in area of Killi Chaibizai, Tehsil Gulistan, District Qilla Abdullah, seized 2.494 ton Hashish.

The drug was stocked as a consignment for handing over to some other narcotics gang for smuggling to some unidentified destination. ANF Rawalpindi recovered one kg Heroin from personal possession of two local drug peddlers who were arrested near Raja travel Faizabad, Islamabad.

In another operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a local drug peddler near Police Post, Express Highway, Koral Chowk, Islamabad, recovering 250 grams Heroin from his possession. Yet in another operation, ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a Suzuki Mehran Car near Sunny Bank Stop, Murree and recovered 1.6 kg Heroin hidden in secret cavities of the car.

Two persons on-board were also arrested on the spot. In fourth operation, ANF Rawalpindi arrested a passenger at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad while he intended to board for Dubai by Air Arabia Flight No.

G-9829 and recovered two kg Heroin, concealed in his bag. In fifth operation, ANF Rawalpindi while intercepting a United Kingdom (UK) bound parcel containing pot at an office of a courier service company based at Attock, seizing 700 grams Heroin concealed in it.

Moreover, ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Alto Car near main Motorway Toll Plaza, Faisalabad and recovered 4.8 kg Opium and 2.5 kg Heroin concealed in secret cavities of car. Three persons on-board identified as Muhammad Shafi, Mujahid and Sajjad Ahmed were also arrested during the operation.

In another operation, ANF Lahore recovered 1.1 kg Hashish from possession of a drug trafficker named Mehran, resident of Khyber Agency who was arrested near main Motorway Toll Plaza, Faisalabad.

Yet in another operation, ANF intercepted a passenger named Ahmed, resident of Gujrat at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 2.9 kg Heroin concealed in his trolley bag.

He was to board for Italy by PIA Flight No. PK-723. In fourth operation, ANF Lahore recovered 8 kg Hashish from possession of Abdullah Khan, resident of Gujrat while arresting him near Dera Abdullah Khan, Karlah Panwan, Gujrat. In fifth operation, ANF Lahore recovered 650 grams Hashish from a local drug supplier identified as Faisal Mehmood, resident of Sialkot, who was arrested while riding on a motorcycle near China Chowk, Wazirabad Road, Sialkot.

In sixth operation, ANF Lahore arrested a passenger named Zeeshan Haider, resident of Faisalabad at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 950 grams Heroin tactfully concealed in his passenger bag.

He was to fly for Sri Lanka by Oman Air Flight No. WY-344. ANF Peshawar Airport Team arrested Mehran Nabi, resident of Peshawar while he was travelling to Malaysia by PIA Flight No. PK-894, recovering 3.7 kg Hashish from his possession.

In another operation, ANF Peshawar while acting on a tip-off, intercepted two persons identified as Syed Hilal Shah and Qadir Khan, both residents of Peshawar, recovering 425 grams Cocaine their possession.

They were arrested while travelling on a motorcycle near Deawoo Cargo Service, Peshawar. ANF Karachi while carrying out an information based operation near Jamia Masjid, Kochi Camp, Karachi, a drug dealer identified as Muhammad Ayub, resident of Karachi, seizing 32 kg Hashish, which was recovered from his personal possession.

Meanwhile, ANF in its drive against absconders in narcotics cases, apprehended 32 absconders while carrying out operations at Mansehra, Haripur, Peshawar, Lahore, Mianwali, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Quetta, Gujrat, Multan, Khairpur, Sialkot, Charsada, Sargodha and Shikarpur.

All cases have been registered at respective ANF Police Stations and further investigations are underway.
