Scattered, light rain reported in Lahore

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Jul, 2025) Scattered and light rain was reported in various parts of the city on Saturday, while the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast more rainfall over the next 24 hours.

The rain began in the early hours of Saturday and continued intermittently for several hours, affecting areas such as Johar Town, Township, Samanabad, Gulshan Ravi, Tajpura, Upper Mall, Qurtaba Chowk, and Mughalpura.

The PMD warned that heavy rainfall in the coming days may trigger flash floods in local streams and nullahs across Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, hill torrents of DG Khan, northeast Punjab, and Kashmir.

Urban flooding is also a concern in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Okara, Nowshera, and Peshawar.

Additionally, the risk of landslides and mudslides could lead to road closures in hilly regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Officials cautioned that strong winds, heavy downpours, and lightning could damage vulnerable structures such as makeshift homes, billboards, electric poles, solar panels, and vehicles during the forecast period.

According to PMD, a seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan, while moist currents from the Arabian Sea are affecting upper parts of the country. A westerly wave is also influencing the northern regions.

Rainfall was also recorded in several other cities nationwide. The maximum temperature recorded in Lahore on Saturday was 32°C.
