MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th December, 2018) As many as 16 militants from the Taliban movement were killed during airstrikes and clashes with the Afghan security forces in the country's southern Ghazni province, local media reported on Thursday citing an official.
A number of other militants were injured during the security operations conducted in Ghazni's Qarabagh district on Wednesday, according to the Pajhwok news agency.
Some 300 Taliban fighters were killed in Ghazni province last month, the news agency reported.
Afghanistan has long been suffering from political, social and security-related instability due to simmering insurgency, including that of the Taliban movement and the Islamic State terrorist group (outlawed in Russia).
