At least 24 people were killed and another 40 were injured in Zimbabwe due to flooding and landfall, caused by the tropical Cyclone Idai, the country's Ministry of Information said on Saturday

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th March, 2019) At least 24 people were killed and another 40 were injured in Zimbabwe due to flooding and landfall, caused by the tropical Cyclone Idai, the country's Ministry of Information said on Saturday.

"Number of deaths is confirmed at 24 mainly from Chimanimani East #CycloneIdai .

.. The number of missing people is currently 40. The fatalities include 2 students," the ministry wrote on Twitter.

Earlier in the day, the ministry reported 15 deaths and 15 injured as a result of the disaster.

Idai hit neighboring Mozambique on Friday, killing at least 19 people.
