The British Transport Police (BTP) said Tuesday that they would deploy more personnel following a car ramming attack attempt in Westminster
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th August, 2018) The British Transport Police (BTP) said Tuesday that they would deploy more personnel following a car ramming attack attempt in Westminster.
Earlier in the day, the Metropolitan Police said that the driver of the car that crashed into security barriers outside the UK Parliament was arrested on suspicion of terrorist offenses.
"Following the earlier incident outside the Houses of Parliament in London this morning, extra officers from BTP will be on patrols this afternoon and into the evening," the BTP said.
The terror threat has remained high in the United Kingdom in recent years. The country has faced a number of bloody terror acts, most notably the attack on London's Westminster Bridge and parliament grounds in March 2017, as well as a concert bombing in Manchester on May 22, 2017.
