Canada Finds Injury To Domestic Industry From Dumped Chinese Steel - Trade Tribunal

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th September, 2018) A Canadian investigation of imports of corrosion-resistant sheet steel from China and other Asian nations indicates that domestic producers have been either injured or are threatened by dumping, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal said in a press release on Monday.
"There is a reasonable indication that the dumping of corrosion-resistant steel sheet from the People's Republic of China, Chinese Taipei, the Republic of India and the Republic of Korea has caused injury or is threatening to cause injury to the domestic industry," the release said.
The Tribunal's inquiry was conducted as a result of a dumping investigation by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
The Tribunal hears cases on dumped and subsidized imports, complaints about Federal government procurement and appeals of customs and excise tax rulings, the release explained. Dumping typically refers to imports sold at less than fair value to the detriment of domestic producers.
The CBSA will continue its own investigation and, by October 24, 2018, will issue a preliminary determination in a multi-step process that could result in countermeasures to protect domestic producers, the release said.
