Chile plans to obtain more than $400 million in foreign investment for its electric energy infrastructure creation and reconstruction in 2019, the Chilean government said
BUENOS AIRES (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th March, 2019) Chile plans to obtain more than $400 million in foreign investment for its electric energy infrastructure creation and reconstruction in 2019, the Chilean government said.
Chilean Energy Minister Susana Jimenez held an international roadshow on Monday, aimed at attracting new foreign investors to the country's electric energy sector, which she qualifies as a foundation of Chile's economic growth.
"Today it is a dynamic and competitive area, in which the private sector serves as the center of investment attraction," she said.
Chile will hold three types of tenders in 2019.
The first one will focus on eight projects on new electricity lines construction, with the referential investment amounting to $233 million. The second group of tenders will include 30 projects on reconstruction of existing lines, and the referential investment will make $88 million. Meanwhile, as part of the third group of tenders six groups of different projects are expected to be implemented, with the referential investment amounting to $87 million.
According to the plan of Chilean energy sector development, over 266 projects with a total cost of $3.1 billion are set to be implemented between 2020 and 2024.
