Conference Committee On US Border Security 'Working Well' - Democratic Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries

The bipartisan Conference Committee negotiating a border security deal is working well, US House of Representatives Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries said during a press conference on Wednesday
"Well there's a bipartisan process that's underway that we believe is working well," Jeffries told reporters.
Democrats are willing to support legislation that invests in infrastructure on the US border such as in ports of entry, sensors, drones, satellites and scanners, Jeffries said.
In addition, Jeffries said Democrats support investments to secure additional immigration enforcement personnel and immigration judges.
The congressman from New York pointed out as long as President Donald Trump is willing to accept evidence-based proposals, lawmakers should be able to reach a bipartisan agreement.
However, if Trump is only focused on obtaining funding to build a wall on the US border with Mexico, then there will be an issue, Jeffries said.
After a partial government shutdown that lasted more than a month, lawmakers temporarily re-opened the US Federal government for a three-week period until February 15 for the bipartisan House-Senate Conference Committee on Homeland Security to negotiate a deal on border security that will include funding for constructing a border wall.
