WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th August, 2018) DC Mayor Muriel Bowser said in a statement on Friday that she is the local politician US President Donald Trump lashed out at earlier in the morning after she got through to him about the realities of holding parades in Washington, DC.
"Yup, Im Muriel Bowser, mayor of Washington DC, the local politician who finally got thru to the reality star in the White House with the realities ($21.6M) of parades/events/demonstrations in Trump America (sad)," Bowser said in a Twitter message.
Earlier on Friday, Trump said in his own Twitter message that DC politicians "know a windfall when they see it" and complained that they asked for an amount of money "so ridiculously high" that he was forced to cancel plans for a November 10 military parade.
Pentagon Spokesman Col. Rob Manning said in a press release late Thursday that the parade would not be held as planed, and officials were exploring the idea of holding the celebration in 2019.
US media reported that the majority of the projected $92 million cost would be used to pay for the troops and equipment which would be part of the parade.
