MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st March, 2019) The European Council will hold a two-day meeting in Brussels starting on Thursday to discuss a number of European internal affairs and some external issues.
On Thursday, the leaders of 27 EU member states will discuss the latest developments surrounding the process of UK's withdrawal from the European Union or Brexit. The discussion will mainly focus on UK Prime Minister Theresa May's recent request addressed to European Council President Donald Tusk regarding an extension of the Article 50 period until 30 June 2019.
On March 22, EU leaders will mark the 25th anniversary of the European Economic Area and the participants of the meeting will discuss such issues as the future development of the single market, the Capital Markets Union, and the digital, industrial and trade policies and dimensions.
The European Council will also raise such issues as climate change, preparation for the upcoming EU-China summit slated for April 9 and fight against disinformation.
