PARIS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th April, 2019) Hundreds of Parisians prayed late Tuesday outside the French capital's second largest church, Saint-Sulpice, after a huge fire ravaged the iconic Notre Dame cathedral, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
They plan to march to the Saint-Michel square outside Notre Dame, which was severely damaged in the blaze that caused its spire and most of the roof to collapse.
Thousands are already holding vigil at the square, according to RT news channel. People are singing religious hymns and holding up candles.
Saint-Sulpice, a 17th century Catholic church, will host the main Easter mass this Sunday as the traditional venue, Notre Dame, remains closed. French President Emmanuel Macron said in an address to the nation he wanted Notre Dame to be rebuilt within five years.
