India Successfully Tests BrahMos Supersonic Cruise Missile - Air Force

The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday announced that it successfully carried out a test launch of its BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a Su-30 MKI fighter jet

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd May, 2019) The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday announced that it successfully carried out a test launch of its BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from a Su-30 MKI fighter jet.

"#RulingTheSkies : IAF successfully fired the #BrahMos air version missile from its frontline Su-30 MKI fighter aircraft today. The launch from the aircraft was smooth & the missile followed the desired trajectory before directly hitting the land target," the IAF wrote on Twitter.

The IAF also noted that the missile could carry out strikes at long range "on any target at sea or on land with pinpoint accuracy by day or night in any weather condition.

BrahMos Aerospace is a joint venture of Russia's rocket and missile developer NPO Mashinostroyeniya and India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The company is producing the world's fastest cruise missile BrahMos, named after Brahmaputra and Moscow rivers. The BrahMos missile, which can be launched from land, ships, aircraft or submarines, is capable of hitting targets as much as 300 kilometers (190 miles) away, flying at a speed of 3,400-3,700 kilometer per hour (2,100-2,300 miles per hour).
