YALTA (Crimea) (UrduPoint news / Sputnik - 19th April, 2019) An international commission on monitoring the human rights situation in Crimea and the eastern Ukrainian region of Donbas will be set up in Berlin, German lawmaker from the euroskeptic party Alternative for Germany (AfD) Waldemar Herdt told Sputnik on Friday.
"At my initiative, we are creating an international commission on human rights that will monitor the situation in Crimea and Donbas," Herdt said on the sidelines of the Yalta International Economic Forum.
He pointed out that lawmakers from seven EU countries had already expressed a wish to join the commission.
"That will be an alternative human rights organization. Today, I do not see any organizations that are working on the issue impartially," the lawmaker added.
The 2019 Yalta International Economic Forum is being held from Thursday through Saturday, with over 4,500 people from some 100 countries participating in the event.
