MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) Iran hopes that European countries which signed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iranian nuclear program will continue respecting their commitments under the deal, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Friday.
"We would like to thank Russia and China for their position on JCPOA.
And we hope that the European countries that are members of JCPOA will also stick to their commitments," Araghchi said at a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Ryabkov, in Moscow.
The Iranian diplomat reiterated that the decision of the United States to withdraw from the nuclear deal was illegitimate and contradicted the decisions of the UN Security Council.
The JCPOA was signed in 2015 by Iran, the European Union and the P5+1 group of countries China, Germany, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Washington decided to withdraw from the deal in May, 2018.
