Klimkin Says He Discussed With Pompeo Boosting US-Ukraine Trade, Investment

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th November, 2018) Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that he discussed with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expanding trade and investment between the United States and Ukraine.
"We have also talked today about further expanding and giving a boost to our trade and investment," Klimkin said on Friday.
Klimkin explained that Ukraine and the United States may explore new ideas in the trade field, including the possibility of establishing a free trade area in the future.
The Ukraine foreign minister emphasized the importance of two countries' strategic partnership and mutual efforts to counter what he termed was Russian aggression.
Klimkin said given that as Ukraine's presidential and parliamentary elections are approach, Kiev is increasingly looking at the United States' experience with Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
Klimkin also encouraged the United States to keep sanctions on Russia until Moscow changes its behavior in eastern Ukraine, adding that he discussed with Pompeo what other potential measures can be undertaken to stop Russia's malign activities.
The foreign minister concluded that by saying he looks forward to welcoming Pompeo in Kiev for the next round of strategic talks.
