MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 25th February, 2019) The Lima Group will hold a meeting in the Colombian capital of Bogota on Monday to discuss the latest developments in Venezuela as well as ongoing US efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the country.
US Vice President Mike Pence and Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido will also take part in the meeting and hold talks with each other.
Attempts to bring in unauthorized aid into Venezuela led on Saturday to clashes between Venezuelan police, who tried to prevent aid-filled trucks from crossing the country's border without permission, and protesters, as well as prompted Caracas to sever diplomatic relations with neighboring Colombia.
The Lima Group comprises 14 member states, the majority of which have been critical of incumbent Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and have recognized Guaido as the country's interim leader.
Russia, China, Mexico and Turkey have stressed that Maduro is the legitimate president of Venezuela and called for dialogue. Venezuela's incumbent president believes that the aid deliveries are a ploy to topple his government.
