CARACAS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2018) Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday expressed strong admiration for leadership skills of Russian President Vladimir Putin and called him "the leader of the world."
"Our country admires the leadership skills of President Putin, he is an alternative leader of the mankind, the leader of the world, the leader who has shown great courage in the face of major economic war that was declared against Russia," Maduro said at a press conference in Caracas attended by foreign media.
Maduro also noted a high level of relationship between the two countries. He did not rule out the possibility of inviting Putin to Caracas, stressing that they had not yet discussed the issue "but this would be a good idea."
Maduro added that his last telephone conversation with the Russian president took place in March on the occasion of Putin's victory in the presidential election.
