Mattis, Qatari Deputy Prime Minister Discuss Cooperation In Afghanistan - Pentagon

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th November, 2018) US Secretary of Defense met with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister Khalid Attiyah to discuss cooperation in Afghanistan and their countries' bilateral military partnership, Department of Defense spokesperson Dana White said in a release.
"The leaders discussed a broad range of defense issues, including Qatari support to the NATO mission in Afghanistan and improvements to Al Udeid Air Base," the release said on Tuesday.
White explained in the release that Mattis and Attiyah, who also leads Qatar's Ministry of Defense, reaffirmed the strategic security partnership between the United States and Qatar.
Mattis thanked Qatar for continued hospitality in hosting US forces in the Gulf region and affirmed commitment to ongoing security cooperation, White said.
