MEXICO CITY (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th March, 2019) A new government, headed by Prime Minister Salvador del Solar, was sworn in in Peru late on Monday, local media reported.
Former Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva tendered his resignation to Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on March 8, having served as head of the country's government less than a year.
His move came shortly after Vizcarra announced his plan to reshuffle the cabinet in a bid to bring more women to the Council of Ministers.
As many as nine reshuffles have taken place in the Peruvian government, El Comercio newspaper noted. New ministers of culture, housing, women and vulnerable populations, development and social inclusion, and environment have been appointed, among others.
Meanwhile, ministers of defense, interior, economy and finance have kept their positions.
Del Solar used to serve as the country's culture minister between 2016 and 2017 and is also a famous actor.
