BERLIN (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd January, 2020) German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chinese President Xi Jinping talked about the outcome of last week's Libya peace conference in Berlin, in a phone call on Wednesday.
"The two have discussed the implementation of results of the Berlin conference on Libya ... President Xi has pledged his continued support," German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said.
The two leaders also raised bilateral political and economic ties, international trade and EU-Chinese relations in their morning conversation. A summit between EU and Chinese leaders is planned for September.
The conference last Sunday saw the European Union, Turkey, Russia and Egypt commit to ending foreign interference in the Libyan war and agree to push for a permanent ceasefire between rival factions.
