MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th January, 2019) The Russian Foreign Ministry called on the global community on Thursday to contribute to mutual understanding between the opposing political forces in Venezuela, stressing that only Venezuelans had the right to make decisions concerning their future.
"Only Venezuelans have the right to determine their future. Destructive foreign meddling is inadmissible, given the extremely tense situation ...
The international community should contribute to understanding between different political forces in Venezuela that prioritize national interests. We are ready to cooperate with all the countries that share these goals," the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry believes that the United States and its allies will continue their attempts to exert pressure on Caracas, calling on the "sensible" Venezuelan politicians who oppose the country's president, Nicolas Maduro, not to become "pawns in someone else's game."
