No final declaration has been adopted at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit due to difficulties caused by trade wars, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday
HANOI (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th November, 2018) No final declaration has been adopted at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit due to difficulties caused by trade wars, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday.
"For the first time in its history, the organization has been unable to adopt a declaration. What is the reason for that? That is, due to difficulties in international trade. Because of those trade wars, which are in fact ongoing in the world. And due to the discussion that took place on the sidelines of the APEC summit and, in fact, at the negotiating table," Medvedev told reporters following the summit.
Unfortunately, the whole trading system is put at risk as a result of decisions that have been made by some countries, the Russian prime minister noted.
"Let's face it: the whole story began with the decisions made by one of our partners - the United States. Therefore, at the moment everything looks quite difficult. Of course, we are ready to negotiate this topic," he stressed.
