Nordic Ministers To Meet In Finland On January 25 For Climate Change Discussion - Helsinki

Finnish Prime Minister Juha Sipila and Minister of the Environment, Energy and Housing Kimmo Tiilikainen invited the prime ministers and government ministers of Nordic countries to Helsinki on January 25 to work out joint action on climate change, the Finnish prime minister's office said in a press release on Wednesday
"The aim of the meeting is to flesh out concrete steps towards a carbon neutral Nordic Region. Ministers will explore ways to enhance Nordic cooperation as well as how to scale up Nordic low-carbon solutions and meet global demand. The basis of the initiative is the need to rapidly respond to the climate change by reducing emissions more and faster," the press release read.
According to the press release, Sipila will hold separate bilateral talks with the prime ministers of Iceland and Norway within the framework of the meeting.
The threats posed by climate change became more pronounced a year ago after US President Donald Trump announced that the United States, one of the countries producing the largest amount of carbon emissions in the world, would be withdrawing from the Paris Agreement on climate change, which regulates the world's efforts to combat global warming.
