Calm has been restored in the Venezuelan capital, Russian Ambassador Vladimir Zaemskiy told Sputnik, after what appears to be an uprising by a small group of armed military personnel

MEXICO CITY (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st January, 2019) Calm has been restored in the Venezuelan capital, Russian Ambassador Vladimir Zaemskiy told Sputnik, after what appears to be an uprising by a small group of armed military personnel.

"All is calm in Caracas.

The Russian embassy is working as usual," the diplomat said.

Several National Guard troops stole weapons from a military post in western Caracas and took a number of personnel hostage, according to the Defense Ministry. They were promptly captured and are being questioned. A brief protest in their support was likewise dispersed.
