Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the policy of the current authorities of Ukraine makes peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbas hardly possible.
SINGAPORE (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th November, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that the policy of the current authorities of Ukraine makes peaceful settlement of the conflict in Donbas hardly possible.
"The most important thing is whether the current government is able to do something for the settlement? In my opinion, it cannot. As long as such people are in power in Kiev, it is hardly possible to count on a peaceful solution to the situation in these territories. But we, nevertheless, believe that there is no other way but to negotiate ... There is no other way but peaceful [settlement]," Putin told a press conference in Singapore.
The Russian president stressed the necessity to fulfill the Minsk accords, adding that the current administration of Ukraine had not "yet shown a desire" to implement these agreements.
"Nothing's happening. Even the law on the special status of Donbas, which was adopted by the parliament of Ukraine, has not yet entered into force. This is a key element of the settlement ... Everyone is waiting for some implementation of the Minsk agreements from Russia, and everyone prefers to ignore the fact that the Kiev authorities do not do anything," Putin noted.
