Pentagon Declines To Comment On Russia's Plans To Supply S-300 Systems To Syria

The US Department of Defense declined to comment on Russia's plans to supply S-300 air defense systems to Syria, spokesperson Eric Pahon told Sputnik on Monday.
WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th September, 2018) The US Department of Defense declined to comment on Russia's plans to supply S-300 air defense systems to Syria, spokesperson Eric Pahon told Sputnik on Monday.
"My colleagues at the State Department can assist you," Pahon said when asked to comment the matter.
Earlier in the day, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that Moscow will supply advanced S-300 air defense systems to Syria within two weeks.
Shoigu noted that the S-300 will significantly improve Syria's air defense combat capabilities.
Also on Monday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the United States plans in talks with Russia on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to raise the issue of Moscow's decision to provide the S-300 system to Syria.
