Pentagon Says Repatriated Ghassan Al Sharbi From Guantanamo To Saudi Arabia

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 09th March, 2023) The US Department of Defense announced in a press release the repatriation of Ghassan Al Sharbi from the Guantanamo Bay prison to Saudi Arabia.
"The Department of Defense announced today the repatriation of Ghassan Al Sharbi from the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," the press release said on Wednesday.
"On February 4, 2022, the Periodic Review board (PRB) process determined that continued law of war detention of Ghassan Al Sharbi was no longer necessary to protect against a continuing significant threat to the national security of the United States."
Out of 31 detainees remaining at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, 17 are eligible for transfer, three are eligible for a Periodic Review Board, nine are involved in the military commissions' process and two have been convicted in military commissions.
