Philippine Landing Platform Dock Pays First Visit To Vladivostok - Russian Pacific Fleet

The Philippine Navy's landing platform dock Tarlac on Monday docked in Vladivostok, paying its first ever visit to the far-eastern Russian city, Russian Pacific Fleet spokesman Nikolai Voskresensky said.

"The Philippine Navy's landing platform dock Tarlac has arrived in Vladivostok today for its first ever port visit," the spokesman said.

The welcoming ceremony was attended by the Philippine ambassador to Russia, Carlos Sorreta.

According to Voskresensky, the commander of the Philippine task force noted that it was a historic visit, which would contribute to the enhancement of cooperation between Russian and Philippine fleets.

The Philippine naval personnel are expected to have meetings with the Russian Pacific Fleet command and the city mayor, visit the fleet's facilities and memorials and take part in friendly volleyball and mini-football matches. The visit will last until Saturday.
