Pompeo Tells Newly Elected Iraqi Speaker US Looks Forward To Working With Him- State Dept.

WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in a phone call with newly elected Iraqi Speaker Mohammed Halbusi said Washington is looking forward to working with him, the Department of State said in a press release on Wednesday.
"The Secretary congratulated Speaker Halbusi on his new position and underlined that the United States looks forward to working with him in this most important new role," the release said.
Pompeo stressed his continuing support for sovereignty of Iraq and for all efforts to create a modern, nationalist Iraqi government, the release added.
Iraq's parliament elected politician Mohammed al-Halbusi as assembly speaker on September 15 after he won majority votes.
