Reports about the discovery and rescue of the Su-34's second pilot was not confirmed, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement Friday
Earlier in the day, the ministry said two Su-34s had collided during training maneuvers over the sea in Russia's Far East.
"The previous information about the discovery and rescue of the second pilot, unfortunately, has not been confirmed," the ministry said.
"The rescued Su-34 flight navigator is currently being evacuated by the An-26 aircraft with special medical modules to Khabarovsk. His condition is satisfactory. There is no threat to life," it said.
The ministry said the rescue operation around the Su-34 crash area in Russia's Far East continued, with five ships involved, adding that six more Pacific Fleet vessels were heading toward the area to join the rescue effort.
