Russia Ready To Assist In Syrian Refugees' Return From Jordan - Ambassador To Amman

Russia is prepared to assist in the implementation of the mechanism of the Syrian refugees' return from Jordan, which must be agreed between Damascus and Amman, Russian Ambassador to Jordan Gleb Desyatnikov told Sputnik on Thursday
AMMAN (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 14th March, 2019) Russia is prepared to assist in the implementation of the mechanism of the Syrian refugees' return from Jordan, which must be agreed between Damascus and Amman, Russian Ambassador to Jordan Gleb Desyatnikov told Sputnik on Thursday.
"We are ready to provide all the necessary assistance, if needed. There are no trilateral mechanisms. The issue will be solved in the Jordan-Syria format, we are ready to provide assistance, if needed," Desyatnikov said.
The diplomat pointed out that Moscow understood Amman's wish to return Syrian refugees back to their country.
According to Desyatnikov, Jordan has made some steps to ensure Syrian refugee's return.
"There is much work to be done in order to make the process of [Syrian] refugees' return permanent," Desyatnikov added.
Jordan hosts Zaatari refugee camp, one of the biggest refugee facilities in the middle East region. Syrian refugees have an opportunity to leave Jordan for their home country via the Nassib checkpoint.
