MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2018) The Russian Navy's only heavy aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov has been dry-docked for modernization and repairs, a source in shipbuilding industry told Sputnik.
"Yes, it's in a dry dock," the source said answering a corresponding question.
President of Russia's United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) Alexey Rakhmanov said in April that the carrier's repair works should be completed by the end of 2020. The vessel will be tested and sent back to the Navy in the first half of 2021.
Admiral Kuznetsov was commissioned in 1991. Repair works and modernization are expected to extend the carrier's service life by 20 years.
