Russian Defense Minister Announces Surprise Combat Readiness Inspection In Eastern Regions

Russia is carrying out a surprise inspection of the armed forces' combat readiness in the countrys eastern regions ahead of the Vostok 2018 drills, the inspection will include 16 special exercises, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Monday
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 20th August, 2018) Russia is carrying out a surprise inspection of the armed forces' combat readiness in the countrys eastern regions ahead of the Vostok 2018 drills, the inspection will include 16 special exercises, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Monday.
"Today, starting 05:00 Moscow time [02:00 GMT], the military command and control units, troops in the Eastern Military District, Central Military District, Airborne Troops, Long Range and Military Transport Aviation began to implement measures to achieve the highest degree of combat readiness in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces," Shoigu said.
According to the minister, the surprise inspection is being carried out in the light of the upcoming Vostok 2018 drills, will last five days and include 16 special exercises.
Shoigu also instructed his deputy to inform military attache of foreign countries about the inspection.
