Russian Lower House Speaker Dismisses New Ukrainian Sanctions

The speaker of the Russian lower house, Vyacheslav Volodin, said Thursday that Ukraine's new sanctions were a futile and purely political decisio

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st March, 2019) The speaker of the Russian lower house, Vyacheslav Volodin, said Thursday that Ukraine's new sanctions were a futile and purely political decision.

On Wednesday, Ukraine imposed sanctions against 294 legal entities and 848 individuals involved in the construction of the Crimean Bridge, elections in Donbas and the incident in the Sea of Azov.

The new sanctions list includes Russian companies, businessmen and politicians, as well as citizens of Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Greece, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany.

"The sanctions were imposed on the basis of emotions rather than systematic decisions or well-formulated claims. They can be treated as futile and purely political decisions... They have neither meaning nor logic and only prove impotence of those who impose them," the speaker said.
