Russian President Says Not Planning Meeting With Israeli Prime Minister In Near Future

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday he was not planning to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the near future

SINGAPORE (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 15th November, 2018) Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday he was not planning to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the near future.

"We have not planned [a meeting] yet ... No specific dates for a possible bilateral meeting have been discussed," Putin said, answering a question about his full-format bilateral meeting with the Israeli prime minister in the coming months.

Putin explained that during a short on-the-go conversation with Netanyahu in Paris, they talked about the downing of Russian Il-20 military plane on September 17 by a Syrian missile off Latakia coast during a raid by Israeli F-16s.

"The position of Israel is clear, well known, they believe that they are not involved in this tragedy. Of course, we talked about this and about some other issues related to bilateral relations, the situation in the region as a whole and in Syria, in particular," the president said.
