Russia's Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area Awaits Homs Governor Visit In December - Region Head

ST PETERSBURG (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st September, 2018) Syrian province Homs Governor Talal Barazi will visit Russia's Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area in response to the regional head's previous visit to Homs, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area Governor Natalya Komarova said on Friday on the sidelines of the Eurasian Women's Forum in St. Petersburg.

Komarova visited the province of Homs as part of a Russian delegation in April 2018. She became the first Russian governor who visited Homs since the start of the Syrian conflict. During the visit, the heads of the two regions signed an agreement on international, economic, trade, scientific, cultural and humanitarian ties.

"Today we are planning the visit of the governor of the province of Homs, Mr. Barazi, as a reciprocal visit so that we will sign a plan of events to the agreement on economic and humanitarian cooperation between our regions," Komarova said.

She pointed out that Syrian Grand Mufti Ahmad Hassoun had already arrived in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Area to meet with local imams and students.

The Russian region's governor added that she would like to visit Syria once again.
