Russia's Khrunichev Center Says May Carry Out 10 Proton Rocket Launches in 2019

Russia's Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center may carry out up to 10 launches of Proton-M carrier rockets, as well as another test launch of the heavy Angara-A5 launch vehicle from the Plesetsk space center in 2019, the company's General Director Alexey Varochko said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 16th October, 2018) Russia's Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center may carry out up to 10 launches of Proton-M carrier rockets, as well as another test launch of the heavy Angara-A5 launch vehicle from the Plesetsk space center in 2019, the company's General Director Alexey Varochko said Tuesday.

"The Khrunichev Center is gradually reaching the planned capacity of both production sites - in Moscow and Omsk. In 2019, we expect an increase in launches of heavy-class carrier rockets: we may carry out up to 10 Proton launches, as well as another test launch of Angara-A5," Varochko said in a statement posted on the company's website.

The Khrunichev Center is a Moscow-based producer of spacecraft and space launch vehicles , including the Proton and the Rokot carrier rockets.
