TOKYO (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 12th November, 2018) A representative office of the Russian state corporation ,Rosatom Japan was opened on Monday in the Japanese capital, a Sputnik correspondent reported.
"Tokyo has historically been one of our key foreign partners. Our cooperation has lasted for over 20 years. Rosatom has been leading in terms of uranium product exports to Japan, providing nine of Japan's 10 energy companies with these products. The expansion of our presence here is a logical continuation of successfully implemented projects," Kirill Komarov, Rosatom's first deputy CEO for corporate development and international business, said at the opening ceremony.
He stressed that the opening of the representative office would facilitate the development of cooperation in nuclear medicine and scientific interaction in the field of fast neutron reactors.

Russian Ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin was among the ceremony's attendees. He stressed that Russian-Japanese economic cooperation had been developing steadily and progressively, with trade between the two countries amounting to $18 billion in 2017.
