Senior US, Japanese Diplomats Hold Talks In Tokyo On North Korea - State Department

US Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan met with Japanese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Takeo Akiba in Tokyo on Tuesday to discuss North Korea and bilateral ties, State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said.
"Deputy Secretary Sullivan and Vice Minister Akiba pledged to work together toward achieving both countries' shared goal of a final, fully verifiable denuclearized North Korea, including through trilateral cooperation with the Republic of Korea," Nauert said on Tuesday in a readout of the meeting.
The two diplomats diplomats discussed the importance of the US-Japanese alliance and ways to strengthen it and also tackled other issues, including security, peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region, Nauert added.
