YEKATERINBURG (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 01st November, 2018) A Serbian military delegation will attend the military drills of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), dubbed Combat Brotherhood-2018, which are underway near the Russian city of Yekaterinburg, a spokesperson for the united press center of the drills said on Thursday.

"A Serbian military delegation headed by Col. Borisha Dognic arrived in Yekaterinburg today. The delegates will observe the active phase of the maneuvers on November 2 at Sverdlovsk range near Yekaterinburg," the spokesperson told reporters.

During the active phase of the exercises, the forces of the CSTO countries will conduct a peacekeeping operation on the territory of a conditional state that is not a CSTO member, authorized by a UN resolution.

"Servicemen will carry out a number of joint tasks to monitor compliance with the ceasefire agreement in the area of responsibility and assist in the restoration of peaceful life on territories affected by the attacks of international terrorist organizations," the spokesperson added.

The Combat Brotherhood-2018 drills started on Tuesday and will run through Friday. Military contingents of the CSTO member states � Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan � are participating in the maneuvers. The drills also involve police forces and units of ministries of emergency situations of these countries. Russia is represented by the servicemen of the Central Military District. A total of 1,300 servicemen and 300 pieces of military hardware are involved in the drills.
