St. Petersburg Hopes to Ink $1.8Bln Worth of Deals at SPIEF 2019 - Acting Governor

ST. PETERSBURG (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 06th June, 2019) The Russian city of St. Petersburg is planning to conclude 120 billion rubles worth ($1.84 billion) of deals during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), which opened earlier on Thursday, the city's acting governor, Alexander Beglov, said.

"We are planing to sign 26 agreements that are [worth] about 120 billion rubles. We have strategic partners, notably Gazprom and Russian Railways, we will sign deals [with them]. In a matter of minutes, we will sign an agreement with Russian Railways. [The agreement provides for] an investment of 88 billion rubles by 2024, the development of a railroad hub, high-speed roads, and the construction of overpasses," Beglov told reporters.

The city authorities are also planning to ink agreements with Russian oil giants Neft and Rosneft, and a number of other companies being represented at the forum.

SPIEF is taking place in St. Petersburg from Thursday to Saturday. Last year's edition of the forum brought together around 17,000 participants from over 140 countries. According to organizers, the participants signed almost 600 agreements worth over 2.6 trillion rubles. St. Petersburg alone concluded 70 agreements worth 267 billion rubles.
