Suspected IS Member Detained in Germany's Duesseldorf - Prosecutor General's Office

BERLIN (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st September, 2018) A suspected member of the Islamic State terror group (IS, outlawed in Russia) was detained on Friday in the western German city of Duesseldorf, the German Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement.

"Today, based on the arrest warrant issued by a court on September 24, 2015, the Prosecutor General's Office detained Sarah O., 20, who has German and Algerian citizenship, in Duesseldorf ... The person is suspected of being a member of the IS terror group," the statement said.

According to the German Prosecutor General's Office, the woman left Germany for Syria to fight for the IS in October 2013.

She was trained in a militant camp and in early 2014 married a terrorist, who was also originally from Germany. The detainee headed IS police and bodyguard bodies, and she received a salary and an apartment for her job. She also tried to recruit more Europeans to fight for the IS.

In early 2018, the suspect fled to Turkey, where she surrendered to local law enforcement. On September 21, Sarah O. was deported to Germany from Turkey and subsequently detained.
