Swedish Prime Minister to Discuss Hybrid Threats With Finnish Counterpart - Finnish Gov't

HELSINKI (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 24th January, 2019) Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven will discuss with Finnish counterpart Juha Sipila hybrid threats, defense and other issues at a meeting on January 29, the Finnish government's press service said on Wednesday.

Lofven's candidacy for the post of the Swedish cabinet's head was endorsed by the country's parliament on Friday after about four months of political deadlock that followed the September parliamentary elections in the country, in which none of the parties received the majority of votes needed to form the government.

"Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven will visit Finland on Tuesday, January 29, and will meet Prime Minister Juha Sipila in Helsinki. The prime ministers will discuss bilateral relations between the countries and current EU issues such as Brexit, migration and multi-year EU financial frameworks. Besides, the themes of the meeting will also include climate problems, defense issues and hybrid threats," the press service said.

During the visit Lofven will also meet Finnish President Sauli Niinisto on January 28.
