Tashkent, Kabul Discuss Afghanistan's Participation In Regional Projects - Statement

Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and his Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani discussed on Saturday prospects of Kabul's involvement in regional projects, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement
The talks were held in the second biggest Uzbek city of Samarkand, where Rabbani arrived to take part in the India - Central Asia forum of regional foreign ministers.
"As it has earlier been pointed out, Afghanistan's involvement in the regional economic, transport and other infrastructural projects will allow the Afghan people to feel the real nature of peaceful alternative to the long-lasting armed conflict," the statement said.
The ministers have reaffirmed their common interest in boosting bilateral political, trade, economic, investment, transport, communications, energy, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
"The Afghan foreign minister expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for the persistent support for the efforts of the Afghan government in establishing peace in the country, boosting bilateral relations, promoting social and economic development via major infrastructural projects and training experts," the statement added.
The situation in Afghanistan has remained highly unstable for decades, which has a negative impact on security of the whole Central Asia region urging regional actors to look for ways of settling the crisis.
