DONETSK/KIEV (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 10th January, 2019) Ukrainian forces shelled a car belonging to a Donbas water company near the city of Yasynuvata in the Donetsk region, injuring three of its staff members, a representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) said on Thursday.

"Today, on January 10 ... the Ukrainian forces opened fire on an official car [of the Voda Donbassa water company] while its employees were clearing snow to reach their workplace ... As a result, three of them received injuries of various degrees," the representative told reporters.

The water company has confirmed that three of its staff members were injured as a result of shelling.

The conflict in Donbas started in 2014, when Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed republics that refused to recognize the new government in Kiev, which came to power after what they considered to be a coup.

In February 2015, the warring parties signed the Minsk peace accords to end the hostilities in the region, but the situation has remained tense, with both parties accusing each other of ceasefire violations.
