WASHINGTON (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 11th September, 2018) Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Tuesday encouraged Canadians to take part in different kinds of services to remember and honor the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States.
"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I encourage Canadians to take part in acts of service today to remember those who lost their lives, and to honor the selflessness shown by so many on 9/11," Trudeau said in his statement on the 17th anniversary of the attacks and the National Day of Service.
Close to 3,000 people, including 24 Canadians, lost their lives as Al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked commercial airplanes and slammed them at the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Another hijacked airplane crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Trudeau in his address offered condolences to all those who lost loved ones and recognized the bravery and heroic actions of first responders during the attacks.
The September 11 terrorist attacks will be ingrained in the people's memories for generations to come, Trudeau said.
