UN Resolution on Azov Sea Allows Kiev to Take Potentially Tragic Steps - Russian Lawmaker

The resolution on the Sea of Azov passed by the UN General Assembly gives Kiev permission to take any steps that may lead to tragedy, Konstantin Kosachev, the chairman of the Russian upper house's foreign affairs committee, said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 18th December, 2018) The resolution on the Sea of Azov passed by the UN General Assembly gives Kiev permission to take any steps that may lead to tragedy, Konstantin Kosachev, the chairman of the Russian upper house's foreign affairs committee, said Tuesday.

On Monday, the assembly passed by a 2/3 majority vote Ukraine's draft resolution calling on Russia to stop restricting international navigation in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

"The resolution is not just useless and has no legal consequences, but it may have military and political repercussions. In fact, Kiev is unleashed to take any steps, even the most insane ones. Given the martial law coming to an end and approaching elections in Ukraine, there is every reason to believe that the Ukrainian authorities are ready for such steps," the lawmaker said on Facebook.
